CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Ohio baseball team (0-4) fell 3-0 at West Georgia (3-1) on Friday, Feb. 21.
Ohio finished with four hits and no errors. West Georgia recorded eight hits and no errors.
Four different Bobcats recorded one hit each. Freshman
Matt Ineich (South Lyon, Mich.) finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Senior
Jackson Cauthron (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), sophomore
Trae Cassidy (Northville, Mich.) and sophomore
Ben Slanker (Canfield, Ohio) finished 1-for-4 at the plate.
Senior
Blake Gaskey (Davenport, Iowa) started on the mound and pitched six innings for Ohio. Gaskey recorded three strikeouts, allowing three hits on 20 at bats. Junior
Landon Price (Middle Point, Ohio) and redshirt junior
Dylan Eggl (Albion, Ind.) also pitched one inning each.
It was a scoreless game through the first sixth and a half innings. West Georgia got on the board with a home run in the bottom of the seventh. The Wolves scored an additional two runs in the bottom of the eighth and went on to win the game, 3-0.
The Bobcats will be back in action at West Georgia on Saturday, Feb. 22. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. ET.
