Ohio Men's Basketball Heads to Mount Pleasant for Tuesday Matchup with CMU

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio men's basketball team (6-7, 0-1 MAC) close out 2025 on the road on Tuesday, Dec. 30 when the Bobcats head to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to take on Central Michigan (4-9, 0-1 MAC). Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET inside McGurik Arena and can be seen on ESPN+ where Adam Jaska, Nathan Arbaugh and Kristina Fusco will have the call.

The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield, presented by Holzer Health System. Jason Toy begins his second season on the mic for the Bobcats and will be joined by veteran college basketball analyst Dave Cecutti. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station net- work's flagship and can be heard on the Varsity Network App.

SCOUTING CENTRAL MICHIGAN
Central Michigan is currently 4-9 overall and 0-1 in MAC play. CMU dropped its MAC opener to NIU on Dec. 20.

Overall, CMU averages 72.5 points per game, while shooting 45.4 percent from the field, 28.5 percent from three and 71.6 percent from the line. Meanwhile, opponents are averaging 77.9 points per game, while shooting 46.4 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from three and 65.6 percent from the line. 

Central Michigan is averaging 34.1 rebounds, 16.4 assists, 6.1 steals and 4.2 blocks a game, while forcing opponents to turn the ball over an average of 12.4 times a game, scoring 13.3 points off them. CMU opponents are averaging 36.4 rebounds, 16.7 assists, 8.2 steals and 2.8 blocks a game, while forcing 13.3 turnovers a contest, scoring 14.6 points off them. 

Currently, Nathan Claerbaut leads CMU with 13.2 points and 6.8 rebounds a game, while shooting 59.1 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the line. Tamario Adley averages 10.2 points and 3.8 assists a game, while shooting 45.0 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from the line, while Rodney Johnson, Jr. averages 8.9 points and 3.8 boards a game. 

SCOUTING OHIO
Ohio is 6-7 overall after defeating Miami-Hamilton, 102-59, on Dec. 22 in Athens. 

Ohio is averaging 77.1 points a game, while shooting 46.8 percent from the field, 29.8 percent from three and 67.0 percent from the line. The Bobcats also add 34.6 rebounds a game, while dishing out 13.9 assists and recording 6.6 steals a contest. Ohio is also forcing opponents to turn the ball over 13.4 times a game, scoring on average 15.5 points off them. 

Meanwhile, Ohio opponents are averaging 76.5 points a game, while shooting 44.6 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from three and 73.5 percent from the line. Opponents are averaging 36.2 rebounds, 14.2 assists and 6.8 steals a game, while forcing Ohio to turn the ball over an average of 11.9 times a game, while scoring on average 13.9 points off them. 

Individually, Ohio is led by senior guard Jackson Paveletzke with 16.8 points and 4.0 assists a game, while shooting 53.0 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from three. Senior forward Aidan Hadaway adds 13.2 points and 7.5 rebounds a game, while shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 65.4 percent from the line, while redshirt junior forward Javan Simmons adds 12.7 points and 4.6 rebounds a game, while shooting 48.6 percent from the field.
