
Ohio Wrestling Defeats Morgan State at Ohio Showcase

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Bobcats wrestling team (1-0) won their first dual meet of the season on Saturday night, defeating Morgan State (0-1), 44-2 at the Ohio Showcase.

Freshman Brayden Teunissen (Belvidere, Ill.) picked up the first win of the day for the Bobcats, defeating Jimmie Jones by major decision, 11-1.

Freshman Konner Lambers (Elder, Ohio) followed with a dominant victory, defeating the Bears' Julian Dawson by technical fall at 5:53.

Freshman Abe Hermes (Milan, Ohio) followed with another technical fall victory over opponent Marwan Nazeer, giving the Bobcats an early 14-0 lead in the match.

At 157 lbs, redshirt junior Derek Raike (Point Pleasant, W.Va) picked up a win in his season debut, defeating opponent Sincere Bailey by major decision, 9-0.

Wrestling at 174 lbs, redshirt sophomore Jeremy Olszko (Northfield, Ohio) wrestled his way to a lead before his opponent was forced to forfeit due to injury at 3:49.

Redshirt Senior Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio) returned to the mat in dominant fashion, defeating opponent Sam Diggs by technical fall at 5:00. Â

Closing out the meet for the Bobcats was redshirt senior Zayne Lehman (Akron, Ohio), making his debut at 197 lbs. with a strong performance, winning by sudden victory (fall) at 3:00. Lehman's victory closed out a dominant 44-2 victory in the Bobcat's first dual meet of the season.

The Bobcats will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7p.m. at the Convo when they host Wisconsin for a dual meet. The match will be streaming on ESPN+ and tickets can be found at ohiobobcats.com.
