Ohio Volleyball Adds Two Future Bobcats on Signing Day

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team adds two signees, Rowan Kelly and Rose Mahin, as announced by interim head coach Kenzie Brinkman on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

"Rowan is an extremely talented setter that makes things look effortless. With her height and strength, she is able to push balls wherever she wants on the floor with ease," Coach Brinkman said about Kelly. "Along with that she is 6' 2' so her net presence will be a weapon. But mostly we are excited about Rowan because of how incredible she is as a human and will only add to our great culture here."
 
Kelly joins the Bobcats from Akron, Ohio where she played volleyball at St. Vincent St. Mary from 2022-2023 and at Wadsworth Highschool from 2023-2026. The 6-2 setter earned four varsity letters for volleyball in high school. Kelly has recorded 1750 assists, 368 kills, 582 digs, 158 aces and 163 blocks during her high school career. She was earned Second Team All-District honors in 2023. In 2024, Kelly was named District 3 Player of the Year, First Team Suburban All-League and Second Team All-Ohio. In 2025, she was named Suburban League Player of the Year, First Team All-District and All-Ohio First Team.
 
Kelly is the daughter of Brenda and Todd Kelly. She has one brother, Remington, and one sister, Reese. Her father, Todd, played basketball and football at Tiffin. Her mother, Brenda, played basketball at Tiffin. Her sister, Reese, plays volleyball at Trine. Her favorite athlete is LeBron James, and her favorite team is Ohio State. Kelly enjoys hanging out with friends, shopping and working out.

"Rose is a special player and person. She is a gifted athlete who would crash through a wall if that's what it took to win. As a 6 rotation pin, we are excited for the ball control and offensive creativity she will bring to our program," Coach Brinkman said about Mahin.  "The biggest asset she brings is her competitive spirit and selflessness that will help continue to grow Ohio Volleyball."
 
Mahin joins the Bobcats from Franklin, Ind. where she earned four varsity letters for volleyball. During her freshman season, the 5-10 outside hitter recorded 264 kills, 27 aces, 23 blocks and 221 digs. During her sophomore season, she tallied 308 kills, 52 aces, 23 blocks and 251 digs. As a junior, Mahin recorded 463 kills, 69 aces, 41 blocks and 271 digs. During her senior season, she tallied 631 kills, 57 aces, 54 blocks and 418 digs. She is a two-time MVP award recipient, two-time Most Inspirational Award recipient and two-time Most Offensive Player award recipient. Mahin holds the school record for kills with a career total of 1,666. She is a three-time Indiana Sectional Champion and won the 2024 Conference Championships.
 
Mahin is the daughter of Alisha and Chris Mahin. She has one brother, Christopher, and one sister, Isabell. Her mother, Alisha, played volleyball at Purdue. Her favorite athlete is Eva Hudson, and her favorite team is Purdue. Mahin enjoys goat farming, baking, hiking and beekeeping.
