Ohio Men's Basketball Heads West to take on Saint Mary's Tuesday Night

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio men's basketball team (1-1) is on the road for the first time of 2025-26 when they head to Moraga, Calif. to take on Saint Mary's (2-0) on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN+.

The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield, presented by Holzer Health System. Jason Toy begins his second season on the mic for the Bobcats. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station net- work's flagship and can be heard on the Varsity Network App.

OPENING TIP
- This is the fourth all-time meeting between Ohio and Saint Mary's.
- Ohio is 2-1 all-time against the Gaels.
- The Bobcats and Saint Mary's last met on Dec. 22, 2007 in the Outrigger Rainbow Classic on Honolulu, Hawaii, with the Bobcats falling, 70-63. 
- Senior guard Jackson Paveletzke is coming off a stellar performance against Illinois State on Thursday in Athens, scoring a game-high 19 points and dishing out six assists in the victory. 
- Redshirt Junior forward Javan Simmons was clutch against Illinois State, scoring 16 points and grabbing four rebounds in the victory.
- Senior guard Dior Conners earned his first start in the Green and White against Illinois State on Nov. 6, scoring five points, while making one three and dishing out a career-high three assists. 
- The Bobcats picked up the 72-68 victory over MVC preseason favorite Illinois State on Thursday, only making one three-pointer and scoring 50 points in the paint. 
- Senior forward Aidan Hadaway opened the season with a career night against Arkansas State, dropping a career-high 28 points.
- Ohio returns four main contributors from last year's team including seniors Ajay Sheldon, Aidan Hadaway and Jackson Paveletzke and sophomore Elijah Elliott.
- Ohio added four transfers; forward Javan Simmons from Toledo, forward Jalen Breath from UNCG, guard Dior Conners from App State and guard Carter Reese from Ohio Northern.
- Ohio adds three freshman to the roster in guard JJ Kelly and forwards Jordan Fisher and Zay Mosley.
- Ohio was selected to finished fourth in this year's MAC Preseason Poll.
- Paveletzke was named to the Preseason All-MAC First Team, while Simmons was named to the preseason All-MAC Second Team.

SCOUTING SAINT MARY'S
Saint Mary's is currently 2-0 after the first week of the season, defeating St. Thomas and Chattanooga. 

The Gaels opened the year receiving votes in both the AP and Coaches polls, and find themselves ranked second in the preseason College Insider Mid-Major Top-25, behind only WCC Rival Gonzaga. The Gaels were picked to finish second in the preseason West Coast Conference Coaches Poll, but had the most preseason All-WCC selections. 

After two games, the Gaels are averaging 85.5 points a game, while shooting 53.9 percent from the field, 45.2 percent from three and 87.5 percent from the line. They are also averaging 36.0 rebounds a game, while dishing out an average of 19.0 assists a game. Saint Mary's also forces 11.5 turnovers a game, while registering 5.5 steals and 3.5 blocks a contest. 

Currently, Mikey Lewis leads the Gaels with 25.5 points a game, while shooting .583 from the field, followed by Paulius Murauskas with 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and is averaging .632 from the field. 

SCOUTING OHIO
Ohio is 1-1 overall after opening the season with a loss against Arkansas State on Monday, before rebounding to defeat MVC preseason favorite Illinois State on Thursday in the Convo. 

After two games, Ohio is averaging 78.5 points a game, while shooting 50 percent from the field, 26.5 percent from three and 61.2 percent from the line. The Bobcats also add 30.0 rebounds a game, while dishing out 12.0 assists and recording 4.0 steals a contest. Ohio is also forcing opponents to turn the ball over 14.5 times a game. 

Meanwhile, Ohio opponents are averaging 78.5 points a game, while shooting 45.8 percent from the field, 34.0 percent from three and 79.5 percent form the line. Opponents are averaging 38.5 rebounds, 12.0 assists and 5.0 steals a game, while forcing Ohio to turn the ball over an average of nine times a game. 

Individually, Ohio is led by senior forward Aidan Hadaway with 18 points and 7.0 rebounds a game, while shooting 64 percent from the field, 33 percent from three and 50 percent from the line. Senior guard Jackson Paveletzke adds 17.5 points and 4.0 assists a game, while shooting 48.0 percent from three. redshirt junior forward Javan Simmons adds 15.0 points and 3.5 rebounds a game, while shooting 42.9 percent form the field, while redshirt senior forward Jalen Breath adds 10 points a game and 30 boards a contest. 

ALL-TIME AGAINST SAINT MARY'S
This is the fourth all-time meeting between Ohio and Saint Mary's.

Ohio is 2-1 all-time against the Gaels.

LAST TIME AGAINST SAINT MARY'S
The Bobcats and Saint Mary's last met on Dec. 22, 2007 in the Outrigger Rainbow Classic on Honolulu, Hawaii, with the Bobcats falling, 70-63. 

PAV LEADS THE WAY
Senior point guard Jackson Paveletzke has picked up where he left off last season when being the main ball handler. 

So far this season, Paveletzke is averaging 17.5 points a game, while shooting 48 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the line, while adding 4.0 assists per game. 

After scoring 16 points in the home opener on Nov. 3, Paveletzke was the leader once again on Nov. 6 in Ohio's win against Illinois State. Paveletzke scored a game-high 19 points and dished out six assists in the win. Paveletzke went 7-of-12 from the field and 5-of-8 from the line as well. 

FROM FOE TO FRIEND
Redshirt junior Javan Simmons made his Ohio debut on Nov. 3 after starting his career at Toledo. 

So far this season, Simmons is averaging 15 points a game, while shooting 42.9 percent from the field, 50 percent from three and 68 percent from the line, while adding 3.5 boards a game. 

The Columbus native scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds with one block in 23 minutes on the court in his Convo debut on Nov. 3 against Arkansas State. 

Simmons picked up where he left off on Monday in Nov/ 6's win against Illinois State, scoring 16 points and grabbing four rebounds, while going 5-of-12 from the field. 

BREATH FINDING THE PAINT
Redshirt senior forward Jalen Breath has started to find his place in the Bobcats' lineup. 

So far this season, Breath is averaging 10 points a game, while shooting 60 percent from the field. 

On Nov. 6 against Illinois State, Breath was clutch down load, scoring 14 points and drawing five fouls. 

DIOR WITH THE START
Senior guard Dior Conners got his first start in the Green and White on Nov. 6 against Illinois State. He finished the game with five points, but hit Ohio's lone three of the night that gave the Bobcats the lead midway through the second half in the Bobcats' victory. 

OHIO FIND SUCCESS IN THE PAINT
On Nov. 6 against Illinois State, the Bobcats scored 50 out of their 72 points in the paint.
