SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Ohio women's and men's cross country teams concluded two competitive races at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Oct. 3. The women's team placed sixth out of a field of 17 teams, beating MAC opponents Miami and Western Michigan in the women's blue 5k race. The men's team finished 17
th in the men's blue 8k race.
The top five finishers for Ohio in the women's blue 5k race all recorded program best times. Senior
Allie Martin (Kingwood, W. Va.) was the first Bobcat to cross the finish line. Martin placed 29
th with the second-fastest time in program history (16:48.8, PR). Senior
Leila Boussedra (Worthington, Ohio) finished in 35
th place with a personal-best time of 16:58.2. Boussedra's time is the fourth-fastest time all time on the women's team.
Senior
Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) took home 46
th place with the seventh-fastest time in program history (17:06.6, PR). Graduate student
Theresa Hagey (Akron, Ohio) came in two places behind Mason, finishing 48
th overall. Hagey ran a personal-best time of 17:08.9, the eighth-fastest in program history. Sophomore
Reece Savage (Johnstown, Ohio) rounded out Ohio's top five finishers. Savage finished in 67
th place with the ninth-fastest time in program history (17:18.6, PR).
Junior
Andrew Bracken (Westerville, Ohio) was the first Bobcat to cross the finish line in the men's blue 8k race. Bracken placed 33
rd overall with third-fastest time in program history (23:42.2, PR). Junior
Charlie Slates (Gahanna, Ohio) finished in 68
th place in the men's race. Slates recorded a PR of 24:12.1, the seventh-fastest time in program history.
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Panorama Farm Invitational and the Falcon Invitational on Friday, Oct. 17.
