ATHENS, Ohio – After a successful Homecoming Weekend, MAC play continues to be in full swing, while swim and dive get read for the season with its annual Green & White Meet! Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.
WOMEN'S GOLF
Sept. 30-Oct. 1 / at 2024 Rocket Classic / Port Clinton, Ohio / Catawba Island Club / All Day / Live Results
The Ohio women's golf team is back in action this weekend when they head to Port Clinton, Ohio for the 2024 Rocket Classic Sept. 30-Oct. 1. The two-day event is hosted by Toledo at the Catawba Island Club.
Competing at this year's event is Central Michigan, Akron, Purdue Fort Wayne, Detroit Mercy, Tennessee Tech., Green bay, Toledo, Bethune-Cookman and Le Moyne College.
On the course, senior Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Ind.), sophomore Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio), sophomore Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio), junior Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, Ariz.) and sophomore Anna Coccia (New Albany, Ohio) will all compete for Ohio, while freshman Saylor Wharff (Marietta, Ohio) will compete as an individual.
The Bobcats are coming off a second-place finish at the 2024 Brittany Kelly Classic on Sept. 17, where Longstreth paced the Bobcats, finishing fifth overall.
CROSS COUNTRY

The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams are back in action on Friday, Oct. 4 when they head to Louisville, Ky. for the 2024 Live in Lou Classic hosted by Louisville at E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The men's 8k is expected to begin at 9:30 a.m., with the women's 6k set for 10:15 a.m.
The Bobcats last competed on Sept. 20 at the Roy Griak Invitational, where The women's team placed fifth overall in the gold 6k race, beating Ohio State who ranks fifth in the Great Lakes Region. The men's team placed 16th overall in the gold 8k race. Junior Leila Boussedra (Worthington, Ohio) led the women's team with a 13th place finish (22:03.1).

The Ohio field hockey team (4-5, 1-1 MAC) is back in Athens on Friday, Oct. 4 when they host new MAC member James Madison (6-2, 2-0 MAC). First touch is set for 1 p.m. at Pruitt Field and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio is back in action on Sunday, Oct. 6 when they head to Oxford, Ohio to take on Miami (5-5, 2-1 MAC). First touch is set for 1 p.m. at the Miami Field Hockey Complex.
Ohio is coming off a thrilling shootout victory Sunday afternoon at Longwood, giving them their first MAC victory of the season.
JMU enters the matchup 6-2 overall and 2-0 in MAC play, defeating Central Michigan and Miami. Meanwhile, the RedHawks are 5-5 overall and 2-1 in MAC play, defeating Ball State and Bellarmine and falling to JMU

The Ohio volleyball team (5-8, 1-1 MAC) returns to Athens this weekend for some Mid-American Conference action when they host Toledo (9-5, 2-0 MAC) Oct. 4-5. Ohio begins the weekend on Friday, Oct. 4 against the Rockets. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside the Convo. The two teams wrap up their series on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. in the Convo. Both matches will be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off a 1-1 weekend where they opened MAC play with a weekend split at Akron. The Bobcats dropped the first match on Friday, before defeating the Zips in five sets on Saturday. In Ohio's win on Saturday, Junior Anna Kharchysnka (Kyiv, Ukraine) was a dominating offense force for Ohio, tallying a career-high 26 kills and team-high 29.5 points. Kharchynska also recorded seven block assists and seven digs. Sophomore Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) was also a main contributor to the Bobcats' offense, tallying 19 kills and 21.0 points.
Toledo is 9-5 overall and 2-0 in MAC play. The Rockets are coming off a two sweeps of NIU last weekend and will take on Bowling Green on Tuesday before heading to Athens.
SOCCER

The Ohio soccer team (6-1-4, 1-0-3 MAC) is back in action this weekend for one match on Sunday, Oct. 6 when they head to Akron (5-4-2, 0-4-0) to take on the Zips. First touch is set for 1 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium and can be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off a 1-0-1 week, where they defeated Bowling Green, 3-0 on Thursday, before tying Kent State, 0-0 on Sunday in Athens. So far in MAC play, Ohio has allowed one goal and has recorded three-straight clean sheets.
Akron enters the matchup with Ohio with a 5-4-2 overall record and a 0-4-0 mark in MAC play. The Zips are coming off a 1-0 loss at Toledo on Sunday, The Zips have yet to score a goal in MAC play.
SWIM AND DIVE

The Ohio swimming and diving team is in Athens for their annual Green and White scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 5. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Ohio University Aquatics Center and is free to fans to attend.
The meet is the Bobcats lone tune-up before the 2024-25 season begins in Athens on Oct. 11 against Toledo.

The Ohio softball team wraps up its fall slate this weekend with four games. Ohio begins the weekend on Saturday, Oct. 5 in Athens. The Bobcats open the day at 11:30 a.m. against Capital and will wrap up the day against Glenville State at 4:30 p.m. Capital and Glenville State will play each other between Ohio's two games.
Ohio closes the fall slate on Sunday, Oct. 6 when they head to Huntington, W. Va. for a doubleheader against Marshall that is set to start at 1 p.m. at Dot Hicks Field.
