Ohio Athletics Set to Induct Kermit Blosser Hall of Fame Class of 2024 Homecoming Weekend

ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Athletics will recognize the Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2024 at football's homecoming game against Akron on Saturday, Sept. 28. This year's class includes Juli Accurso (Women's Cross Country/Track & Field, 2011-14), Emily (Bresser) Hobel (Women's Swim & Dive, 1997-2001), Jeremy Johnson (Wrestling, 2010-14), Carlton "Slugger" White (Men's Golf, 1967-71) and the 1975 Softball Team. The Ohio University Alumni Association's (OUAA) Alumnus of the Year, Dell Robinson, will be honored during the game as well.
 
Robinson will be recognized with OUAA's other awards during the first timeout of the second quarter. The Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized during the third timeout of the first quarter.
 
Juli Accurso was a notable member of the Ohio women's cross country and track & field teams from 2011-2014. Accurso is a three-time Cross Country All-American, three-time Cross Country All-MAC Honoree, three-time MAC Champion and earned the 2011 All-Ohio Champion title. Throughout her track & field career, Accurso was a three-time MAC Indoor Track & Field Champion and three-time MAC Outdoor Track & Field Champion. In addition to her success in conference competition, she also represented Ohio at the 2013 and 2014 NCAA Outdoor First Round Regionals and was named a Second Team Indoor All-American in 2012.
 
Accurso is still the current program record holder for several cross country and track & field events at Ohio. Some of Accurso's school records include the indoor 3,000 meters, indoor and outdoor 5,000 meters, indoor distance medley relay as well as the women's cross country 5k and the 6k races.
 
Emily (Bresser) Hobel was a member of the Ohio women's swim team from 1997-2001 and served as team captain from 2000-2001. Bresser is a 20-time MAC Champion – the third highest in MAC history at the time – and was a five-time MAC and Ohio school record holder. She is a four-time First Team All-MAC honoree and was undefeated in the 200 backstroke at the MAC Championships throughout her four years at Ohio. Bresser was named the 2001 MAC Outstanding Senior Swimmer of the Year, earned the MAC Commissioner's Award and was the recipient of the MAC Presidential Award in 2000-2001. Throughout her collegiate career, she ranked in the top 50 and top 75 in the U.S. for multiple events. In 2000, Bresser qualified for the US Olympic Team Trials.
 
Bresser was a three-time Academic All-MAC Team member and two-time NCAA Academic All-American. She was named a Third Team National GTE Academic All-American in 2000 and a First Team Midwest GTE Academic All-American in 2000 and 2001. Bresser also represented Ohio as a Senior Nationals qualifier in 1997, 1998 and 1999.
 
Jeremy Johnson was a member of the Ohio wrestling team from 2010-2014. Johnson was a four-time NCAA Qualifier and earned All-American honors in 2012 and 2014 after placing seventh at the NCAA Championships. He was named the MAC Freshman of the Year in 2011, is a two-time MAC Heavyweight Champion and placed third at the 2011 and 2013 conference championships. Johnson is a four-time Academic All-American and was named to the Academic All-MAC team in 2013-2014.
 
Johnson ranks first on Ohio's all-time list for career record and single season wins. He also sits at third on Ohio's all-time list for career falls and single season falls. Johnson served as team captain from 2012-2014.
 
Carlton "Slugger" White played for the Ohio men's golf team and graduated from the university in 1971. White was a member of Ohio's men's golf teams who won the MAC Championships in 1969 and 1971. White placed third individually at the 1969 championships, ninth at the 1970 championships and sixth at the 1971 championships. Following his collegiate career at Ohio, he competed professionally at the 1975 US Open and won the 1975 Metropolitan Open.
 
White went on to work for the PGA Tour, starting as a tournament official from 1982-1998. From 1998-2008, he was the manager of the field rules team and was appointed as the Vice President of Rules & Competition in 2008. In 2016, White was inducted into the West Virginia Golf Association Hall of Game.
 
The 1975 Ohio softball team maintained a respected reputation for its powerhouse offense, exceptional pitching and sound defense. As a result of the team's successful 16-1 regular season record and challenging schedule, the Bobcats were awarded a berth to the AIAW World Series. At the AIAW World Series, the 1975 softball team placed eighth overall after competing against Mankato State, North Dakota, East Stroudsburg and Michigan State.
 
Several members of the 1975 softball team set individual program records for their hitting, pitching and defensive performances that season. The team was led by first-year head coach, Nancy Straub, who went on to record 59 wins with Ohio and ranks second for winning percentage out of all coaches in the program's history. 
 
Dell Robinson is a former NCAA Division I athlete with more than 25 years of experience in athletic leaders. In August 2024, he named as the new director of the AECOM Center for Sports Administration in the College of Business. Robinson previously served as a practice leader and senior consultant with Spelman Johnson, where he led the firm's athletics practice.
 
He also serves on the board of directors of NACDA's John McClendon Minority Scholarship Foundation, as a member of the College of Business Executive Advisory Board. He also previously served as a member of the Ohio University Board of Trustees and as the chair of the National Alumni Association. Robinson has received numerous awards throughout his career including the Ohio University College of Business award for Achievement in Business, the College of Business Distinguished Alumni Award and being named as a recipient of the Ohio University Distinguished Service Award.
