Ohio Athletics announces changes to gameday tailgating for Saturday's home matchup against Morgan State.
Due to the extreme drought designation on Athens County, designated by the United States Drought Monitoring System, a ban on open burning is in effect.
"Open Burning" is defined in the Ohio Fire Code as the burning of materials wherein products of combustion are emitted directly into the ambient air without passing through a stack or chimney from an enclosed chamber. Open burning does not include road flares, smudge-pots and similar devices associated with safety or occupational uses typically considered open flames, recreational fires or use of portable outdoor fireplaces [which are addressed separately in this Order]. For the purpose of this definition, a chamber shall be regarded as enclosed when, during the time combustion occurs, only apertures, ducts, stacks, flues or chimneys necessary to provide combustion air and permit the escape of exhaust gas are open.
All non-electric cooking, regardless of fuel source, is currently prohibited by the burn ban order. Indoor cooking, along with outdoor cooking with electric stoves/cooking elements and use of non-flame based heating or electrical devices.
Ohio will kick-off against Morgan State at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday live on ESPN+. Tickets are still available for the Parent's Weekend game at OhioBobcats.com/Tickets.
