ATHENS, Ohio — Ohio Athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) are once again partnering with the Joe Burrow Foundation for the annual Bobcats vs. Hunger Food Drive, an effort to fight hunger and support communities across Southeast Ohio.
Throughout the year, Ohio student-athletes will collect nonperishable food items and monetary donations to benefit Cats' Cupboard and the Southeast Ohio Food Pantry. The initiative also features a friendly competition between Ohio and Miami University's SAAC programs to see which school can make the greatest impact in the fight against hunger.
Fans, students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to participate by donating food or making a monetary contribution. Every dollar donated counts as one can of food toward the competition total, helping provide essential resources to individuals and families throughout the region.
Donations can be dropped off at the Convocation Center, Sook Center or Peden Stadium through Friday, Nov. 20, when the drive concludes. Fans will also have opportunities to contribute at select home sporting events, including Ohio football's matchup against Ball State on Tuesday, Nov. 17.Upcoming collection opportunities include:
· Men's Basketball vs. North Carolina A&T | Saturday, Nov. 7 | 1 p.m.
· Wrestling's Ohio Showcase | Saturday, Nov. 7 | 7 p.m.
· Volleyball vs. Miami | Sunday, Nov. 8 | 4 p.m.
· Football vs. Ball State | Tuesday, Nov. 17 | 7 p.m.
Every donation makes a difference, both in the competition and in supporting individuals and families across Southeast Ohio. Through this annual initiative, Bobcats have an opportunity to come together, support their neighbors and make a lasting impact beyond campus.
