ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Men's Golf team kicked off the 2024-2025 season at the 2024 Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational hosted by Marshall Sept. 9-10 at the Guyan Golf & Country Club. The Bobcats finished fifth place with an overall score of 850 (-2), while junior
Nathanial Gray Lamont placed 14th.
Marshall won the event, followed by Longwood (-13), Morehead State (-12) and Cleveland State (-8).
As a team, Ohio opened the first round with a 283, and concluded the second round with a 286. Closing out the tournament, the Bobcats shot a 281, the second-lowest round of the day.
Individually, Gray Lamont (Guelph, Ontario) led the Bobcats recording rounds of 67 and 73 on day one, before finishing Tuesday with a 71 for a total tournament score of 211 (-2) and a six-way tie for 14th-place finish.
Graduate Student,
Jack Neville (Terrace Park, Ohio) was next placing 20th in a three-way tie after shooting scores of 70 and 71 on Monday, before concluding the event with a 71 for a total of 212 (-1).
Junior,
Will Kates (Centennial, Colo.) finished 26th overall, opening the tournament with a 72, before finishing the second round with another 72, and round three with a 70, finishing the tournament with a 214 (+1), while junior,
Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio) placed 29th (76+70+69=215) and finishing 2-over.
Senior,
Matt Daulton (Lebanon, Ohio), finished 61st overall, shooting a 74 and a 77 on day one, before finishing Tuesday with an 71 for a three round total of 222 (+9).
Playing as an individual for the Bobcats was senior,
Sam Hogan (Burlington, Canada) who finished in a ten-way tie for 39th. Hogan opened the tournament with a 72 in round one, before shooting a 74 in the second round, and finishing off the two-days with a 73, with an overall score of 219 (+6).
The Bobcats will be back in action Sept. 14-15 at the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate. The two day event is hosted by Oakland University at the Katke-Cousins Golf Club in Rochester Hills, Mich.
