NORTON, Ohio – The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2024 season with competition at the Tommy Evans Invitational. The men's team earned an impressive third-place finish while the women's team placed seventh overall.
Freshman
Michael Dellasanta led Ohio in the men's 6k race, placing 19
th overall with a time of 18:56.5. Senior
Jake Ethridge (Lewis Center, Ohio) was the second Bobcat to cross the finish line in 24
th place with a personal-best time of 19:10.1. Sophomore
Ryan Blohm (Morgantown, W. Va.) followed closely behind in 26
th place with a personal-best time of 19:15.4. Three other Bobcats finished in the top 50 of the 6k race. Sophomore
Nick Kennedy (Hurricane, W. Va.) placed 33
rd with a personal-best time of 19:21.9, junior
Rocco DeVincent (Morgantown, W. Va.) came in 42
nd place with a time of 19:34.4 and senior
Connor Wertman (Uniontown, Ohio) finished in 45
th place with a personal-best timeof 19:43.1.
Three Bobcats placed in the top 50 of the women's 5k race. Sophomore
Eliza Streit (Plain City, Ohio) led the Ohio women, placing 23
rd with a time of 18:40.3. Freshman
Reece Savage finished in 32
nd place with a time of 19:05.6. Junior
Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) crossed the finish line right behind Savage in 33
rd place with a time of 19:06.3.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Roy Griak Invitational.
