ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team will open the 2024 season with its first home event, the Bobcat Invitational presented by Athens County Convention & Visitors Bureau, in the Convocation Center on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31.

Friday, August 30:
Xavier vs. App State – 10:30 AM
App State vs. Wright State – 4:30 PM
Ohio vs. Xavier – 6:30 PM
 
Saturday, August 31:
Wright State vs. Xavier – 10:30 AM
Ohio vs. App State – 1:00 PM
Ohio vs. Wright State – 7:00 PM
 
OPPONENTS PREVIEW
The Bobcat Invitational will include competition against three other division I volleyball programs: Xavier, Appalachian State and Wright State.
 
Xavier finished fourth in the Big East last season with an 11-7 conference and 18-2 overall record. The Musketeers return eight players who contributed to the team's upset over a nationally ranked Creighton and victory over Ohio's MAC opponent, Buffalo, during the 2023 season.
 
App State concluded the 2023 season with a 14-15 overall and 4-12 conference record. The Mountaineers finished sixth in the Sun Belt's East Division last season. In the postseason, App State competed in the conference tournament and fell to Troy in the second round of play.
 
In 2023, Wright State earned Horizon League regular season and tournament titles after posted a 21-11 overall and 15-3 conference record. The Raiders made their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last five seasons. Travers Green, the 2023 Horizon League Coach of the Year, returns two players who earned Horizon League Second Team honors. Last fall, the Raiders defeated Ohio's MAC opponent, Ball State, in four sets.
 
2024 MAC PRESEASON COACHES POLL & ALL-MAC
Ohio was selected to finish fifth overall and received 84 points in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Volleyball Preseason Poll, as announced by the league on Monday, August 26. Junior Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) was named to the 2024 Preseason All-MAC Team.
