Three Ohio Men's Golf Members Named NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-American Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. -- Three members were named to the 2023-24 NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-American Scholar, the organization announced today (July 25th). 

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

531 NCAA Division I athletes from 180 schools earned 2023-24 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors.

Sophomore, Will Kates (Centennial, Colo.) has earned his first spot on the Cobalt All-American Scholar Team. The sophomore sports a 3.692 GPA and is currently majoring in Marketing in the College of Business. This season, Kates finished the 2024 MAC Championship tied for 36th. Kates opened his tournament with a 78 (+11) and followed with rounds of 76 (+10) and 77. 

Jack Neville (Terrace Park, Ohio) has earned recognition during his senior season wearing the Green and White, while majoring in Finance and Business Analytics in the College of Business with a GPA of 3.877. Neville finished the 2024 MAC Championships in 32nd place, opening the tournament with a 73 (+6), followed by rounds of 75 (+9) and 80. In addition, Neville impressively scored one Eagle and 14 Birdies. 

Sophomore, Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio) is also earning his first spot on the Cobalt All-American Scholar Team. Trafford has a 3.544 GPA majoring in Marketing in the College of Business. Concluding the MAC Championship, Trafford tied for 38th by opening the tournament with 75 (+8), followed by rounds of 81 (+15) and 77.
