ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio men's basketball team has added forward Kiir Kuany to its signing class for the 2024-25 season, head coach Jeff Boals announced today (July 12).

Kuany joins Ohio as a freshman with four years of eligibility.

"Kiir is a great late addition to our roster.," Boals said. "He has great size, athleticism and skill. Kiir will provide depth to our front court. We are excited to have him join our Ohio basketball family."

The 6'9 forward is originally from Melbourne, Australia and comes to Athens after playing his final year before college at Huntington Prep in Huntington, W. Va. Kuany played in the major Amateur Athletic Union circuits, including Nike's EYBL and Adidas 3SSB, over the past year.

Kuany is the son of Abel Atem Kuany and Dabora Akech Mayen and has three brothers, Deng, Kuany, Mading and two sisters, Aker and Anger. Two of his brothers competed in basketball at the collegiate level. Deng played basketball at Eastern New Mexico University while Kuany played at Cal Berkley and VCU. His younger brother, Mading, is a rising junior at the NBA Academy. Kuany is a fan of the Chicago Bulls, Derrick Rose and Zach Levine.
