DEKALB, Ill. – Graduate student
Carina Weaver (Lexington, Ohio) led Ohio women's track & field on the second day of the MAC Outdoor Championships with an eighth place and personal-best time of 10:32.45 in the women's 3000m steeplechase.
Weaver's 10 second PR earned her a spot on the podium and scored for Ohio. Senior
Kenna Loveless (Tallmadge, Ohio) also recorded a personal-best time in the women's 3000m steeplechase. Loveless finished in 14
th place with a time of 11:07.65.
Freshman
Gracie Smith (Grove City, Ohio) finished ninth overall in the heptathlon with 4,112 points. Smith threw a personal-best mark of 28.94 meters (94-11) in the javelin and ran a 12 second PR of 2:31.88 in the 800m. Smith also competed in the women's 100m hurdle preliminaries and finished in 15
th place (15.70).
Ohio had a group of athletes competed in the preliminaries of a couple of the sprint events. Junior
Taja Booker (Simpsonville, S.C.) just missed the finals qualification in the women's 100m as she ran a personal-best time of 11.91 and placed 10
th in the preliminary round. Freshman
Ella Baker (Amherst, Ohio) finished 15
th in the women's 400m preliminaries with a time of 57.04.
Three Bobcats raced in the preliminaries of the women's 800m. Sophomore
Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) ran a career-best time of 2:12.62 and placed in 11
th place overall. Freshman
Ellie Greenwell (Park Hills, Ky.) finished in 19
th place (2:15.44) and sophomore
Sophie Besett (Twinsburg, Ohio) finished in 24
th place (2:18.97).
Ohio also had two athletes compete in the field events.
Millie Ryan recorded a mark of 11.69 meters (38-4.25) in the women's shot put and
Emilee Baumann recorded a mark of 3.20 meters (10-6).
The Bobcats will conclude competition at the MAC Outdoor Championships starting with the women's 4x100 meter relay at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 11.
