ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team (8-18, 4-10 MAC) fell 10-1 to Western Michigan (14-13, 7-4 MAC) in game two of the series on Saturday, April 6.
The Bobcats were led offensively by graduate student Trenton Neuer (Nicholasville, Ky.), recording two hits and one RBI. Freshman Trae Cassidy (Northville, Mich.) scored Ohio's sole run of the game and had one hit.
Graduate student Tim Knapschaefer (Maria Stein, Ohio) was given the loss, allowing seven runs on ten hits, and struck out six batters in seven innings pitched. Sophomore Landon Price (Middle Point, Ohio) closed the game, allowing only two hits in the final 1.2 innings.
Western Michigan prevented Ohio from scoring until the bottom of the fifth, where the Bobcats found themselves trailing 7-0. Cassidy started the bottom of the fifth with a double to right center, setting himself up in scoring position. Neuer singled and the Bobcats took advantage of a Bronco error, with Neuer making it to second and Cassidy crossing home plate to put Ohio on the board.
The scoring halted for the Bobcats, ultimately losing the game, 10-1.
The Bobcats will be back in action for the final game of the series on Sunday, April 7. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. ET and the game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
