
Women's Track & Field Finishes Successful Day at the Jim Vargo Invite

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Ohio women's track and field team recorded several personal bests and high-placing performances as its concluded competition at Bellarmine's Jim Vargo Invitational on Friday.
The 4x100m relay team, comprised of junior Taja Booker (Simpsonville, S.C.), freshman Jordyn Baxter (Atlanta, Ga.), sophomore Rhiea Gordon (Youngstown, Ohio) and graduate student Taniah Stephens (Eerie, Pa.), placed second with a time of 48.05. Individually, Gordon (12.22, PR) and Stephens (12.51) competed in the women's 100m, finishing in sixth and 12th place, respectively. Stephens also finished 12th (26.23) in the women's 200m.
The 4x400m relay team, comprised of freshmen Jada Irwin (Hamilton, Ohio), Elinor Shuttleworth (Beavercreek, Ohio), sophomore Sophie Besett (Twinsburg, Ohio) and freshman Abby Wells (Hilliard, Ohio), placed third with a time of 4:00.79.
Sophomores Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) and Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) raced in the women's 1500m. Mason placed fourth (4:37.61) and Doughman came in sixth place (4:39.69).
Senior Kenna Loveless (Tallmadge, Ohio) represented Ohio in the women's 3000m steeplechase, placing third with a PR of 11:17.56.
Besett led Ohio in the women's 800m with a fifth-place time of 2:16.46. Shuttleworth ran a personal-best time of 2:18.85 to place 10th in the event. Wells finished in 14th place with a PR of 2:21.41.
In the women's 400m, freshman Ella Baker (Amherst, Ohio) came in eighth place (58.25) and Irwin followed behind in ninth place (58.38).
Three Bobcats earned placed in the top 15 of the women's 5,000 meters. Sophomore Morgan Roth (Brunswick, Ohio) came in fourth place with a personal-best time of 17:30.92. Freshman Eliza Streit (Plain City, Ohio) came in 10th place (17:55.53, PR) followed by junior Sarah Liederbach (Petoskey, Mich.) in 11th place (17:58.37).
Junior Millie Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) placed third in the women's shot put with a mark of 12.09 meters (39-8). Junior Jasmine Correa (Holland, Mich.) finished seventh in the event with a mark of 11.35 meters (37-2.75). Ryan also came in seventh place (36.58m/120-0) in the women's discus.
The Bobcats will be back in action at the Brian Clay Invitational on Thursday, April 11.
