BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Ohio baseball team (10-24, 6-14, MAC) dropped the second game of its series at Bowling Green, 26-5, on Saturday, April 20.
Senior
Gideon Antle (Licking, Mo.) and fifth year
Alex Finney (Oxford, Mich.) led Ohio with two runs each. Antle recorded a home run, an RBI and two hits on three at bats while Finney finished one-for-two at the plate. Ohio's fifth run was scored by graduate student
Bryce Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.), who went two-for-three at the plate and tallied two RBI's.
Graduate student
Tim Knapschaefer (Maria Stein, Ohio) started on the mound for Ohio. He pitched a little over three innings and faced 26 batters. Ohio cycled through three more pitchers for the rest of the game.
Ohio's offense found success early on, scoring three runs in the top of the first to kick off game two of the series. Back-to-back singles by Finney and Antle put two players on base for the Bobcats. Smith single through the right side allowed Finney to score and Antle to advance to third. Junior
Jackson Cauthron (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) followed up with a single through the center field, giving Antle the opportunity to score another run for Ohio. Graduate student
Trenton Neuer (Nicholasville, Ky.) reached second on an error by Bowling Green's third basemen and Smith recorded the Bobcats' third and final run of the inning. At the end of the first inning, Ohio was tied at 3-3 with the Falcons.
The score remained tied at 3-3 after the second inning of play.
In the top of the third, Antle put the Bobcats up 4-3 with his eighth home run of the season. Bowling Green answered back with six runs and took a 9-4 lead.
Junior
Hudson Boncal (Corona, Calif.) replaced Knapschaefer during the bottom of the fourth on the mound after three runs were scored by the Falcons. Bowling Green's offense unleashed on Ohio in the fourth inning, scoring eight runs and taking a 17-4 lead.
Ohio was unable to contain the Falcons' offense for the remainder of the game and Bowling Green earned a 26-5 win over the Bobcats.
