
Ohio Women's Golf Finishes Second at Lady Jaguar Invitational

CARMEL, Ind. – The Ohio Women's Golf team completed play this afternoon (Apr. 14) at the Lady Jaguar Invitational, placing in a tie for second overall. The performance was the Bobcats' best of the 2023-24 season, one week before teeing off at the Mid-American Conference Championship.Â
In a field of 11 teams, the Bobcats shared second place with Butler, finishing the two-round tournament with a total score of 607 (+31). Ohio finished one stroke off of the winners, Ball State who finished with a 606 (+30). The rest of the field included IUPUI, Marian, Green Bay, Akron, Northern Kentucky, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, and DePauw.Â
The Bobcats finished the opening day after a score of 300 (+12), four strokes off of Ball State's lead. In the second round, Ohio finished with the best score of any team with a total of 307 (+19).Â
Leading the way for the Bobcats was freshman Zoe Luebbers (Cincinnati, Ohio) placing in a tie for third overall. Luebbers finished her first day with a score of 74 (+2) with three birdies. In the second round, Luebbers had one birdie and one eagle, finishing with a 75 (+3).Â
Sophomore Mackenzie McRee (Tucson, Ariz.) was the second best finisher for the Bobcats. McRee placed in a tie for sixth after jumping up eleven spots during the second round. McRee opened the tournament with a round of 76 (+4) and finished with a 75 (+3).Â
Also in the top-20 for Ohio, senior Mariana Vega-Rivera (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) placed in a tie for 17th. The senior had consecutive rounds of 77 (+5) over the two days.Â
Competing in her hometown, junior Sydney Longstreth (Carmel, Ind.) placed in a tie for 21st. Longstreth opened the round with a 73 (+1) and finished with an 82 (+10) in the second round.Â
Freshman Morgan Rodgers (Centerville, Ohio) was the fifth golfer for the Bobcats. Rodgers had scores of 80 (+8) across the two rounds, placing in a tie for 41st.Â
Competing for the Bobcats as individuals, junior Sloane Post (Centennial, Colo.) finished in a tie for 36th. Post had rounds of 82 (+10) and 77 (+5) across the two days.Â
Junior Thanya Arasu (St. John's, Fla.) and freshman Anna Coccia (New Albany, Ohio) also competed individually. Arasu had rounds of 79 (+7) and 82 (+10) while Coccia finished with rounds of 78 (+6) and 85 (+13).Â
Next weekend, the Bobcats serve as the host for the 2024 MAC Women's Golf Championships. From April 20th to the 22nd, Ohio will compete with the ten MAC competitors at Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, Ohio.Â
