Ohio Baseball Falls at Morehead State

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Ohio baseball team (5-9, 1-2 MAC) fell at Morehead State (8-8, 0-0 OVC) 20-10 on Tuesday, March 12.

Three players led the Bobcats' offense. Fifth year Alex Finney (Oxford, Mich.) hit one home run, four RBI's, a double and finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Redshirt junior Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded three RBI's, two home runs and two hits on three at bats. Redshirt freshman Owen Williams (Charlotte, N.C.) tallied two RBI's, a home run and finished 1-for-1 at the plate.

On the mound, freshman Jack Geiser (Medina, Ohio) started the game for Ohio. Geiser recorded two strikeouts and allowed three runs in two innings before freshman Tre Barkman (Kidron, Ohio) took over. Barkman pitched for one inning, not allowing any runs from Morehead State. The Bobcats cycled through a total of eight pitchers as they looked to suppress Morehead State's offense.

Ohio had a lead over Morehead State twice throughout the game. After the first inning, Ohio led 1-0 with freshman Pauly Mancino (Westlake, Ohio) scoring a run off of a double by Finney. The Bobcats took a 4-3 lead in the third inning after scoring three runs. Finney and redshirt junior AJ Rausch (Powell, Ohio) scored off of Finney's homer to right field. Graduate student Trent Neuer (Nicholasville, Ky.) also hit a single which allowed graduate student Bryce Smith to advance to third and freshman Trae Cassidy (Northville, Mich.) to score.

Ohio was unable to contain Morehead State's offense and the Eagles ultimately won the game 20-10.

The Bobcats will be back in action at home on Friday, March 15 for the first game of their series with Kent State.
