PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Ohio Men's Golf team competed in the RedHawk Intercollegiate, hosted by Miami (Ohio), and finished in a three-way tie for 11th place with an overall score of 871 (+19) at the Pittsburgh Field Club on Oct. 14-15. Senior Sam Hogan (Burlington, Canada) placed tied for sixth.
As a team, Ohio opened the first round with a score of 300 and concluded the second round with a 289. Closing out the tournament, the Bobcats shot a 281, just one stroke off the eventual champion in the last round.
Marquette won the event, followed by Georgia Southern (-15), Richmond (-8), and Miami (OH) (-2).
Individually, Hogan (Burlington, Canada) led the Bobcats, recording rounds of 71 and 68 on day one before finishing Tuesday with a 69 for a total tournament score of 208 (-5), securing a three-way tie for 6th place. Hogan picked up three birdies and one eagle, carding a 3 on the 555 yard par five 15th hole. Hogan was the best player in the tournament on Par 4s, shooting -7 in the tournament.
Nathaniel Gray Lamont (Guelph, Ontario) and Will Kates (Centennial, Colorado) followed, placing 42nd in a nine-way tie. Gray Lamont shot scores of 74 and 75 on the first day and a 71 in the final round for a final score of 220 (+7). Kates also finished with a score of 220 (78+72+70), ending the tournament seven over par.
Matt Daulton (Lebanon, Ohio) finished 77th overall, opening the tournament with an 83, before concluding the second round with a 74, and round three with a 72, finishing the tournament with a score of 229 (+16). Meanwhile, junior Sheil Iyer (Dublin, Ohio) placed 78th with a total score of 230 (77+77+76), finishing 17 over.
The Bobcats will be back in action Oct. 25-27 at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational. The three-day event is hosted by West Virginia University at the Ocean Club Golf Course in Paradise Island, Bahamas.
