ATHENS, Ohio – It's 'Battle of the Bricks' week times two, with football and volleyball set to take on Miami this week. Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.
FOOTBALL

The Ohio football team (4-2, 2-0 MAC) is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 when they head to Oxford, Ohio to take on Miami (2-4, 1-1 MAC) for the 'Battle of the Bricks'. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. inside Yager Stadium and can be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off a 27-24 victory at Central Michigan on Saturday. Graduate student quarterback Parker Navarro (Tempe, Ariz.) went 13-for-22 in the air, recording one touchdown on 147 yards. Navarro broke his single-game record for rushing yards, finishing the game with one touchdown on 176 yards on the ground. Freshman running back Duncan Brune (Cologne, Germany) scored his first collegiate touchdown to close the second quarter. On the game, Brune recorded four carries on 12 yards.
Miami is coming off a 38-14 win at Eastern Michigan on Saturday. Quarterback Brett Gabbert threw for four touchdowns in the win.
MEN'S GOLF

The Ohio men's golf team is back in action Oct. 14-15 at the 2024 RedHawk Intercollegiate the two-day event is hosted by Miami at the Pittsburgh Field Club in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Competing in this year's event is; Richmond, VCU, Dayton, George Washington, Marshall, Lehigh, Marquette, Eastern Kentucky, Miami, Georgia Southern, Robert Morris and James Madison.
Competing for Ohio in this year's event are; junior Nathaniel Gray Lamont (Guelph, Ontario), junior Will Kates (Centennial, Colo.), senior Sam Hogan (Burlington, Canada ), senior Matt Daulton (Lebanon, Ohio) and junior Sheil Iver (Dublin, Ohio).
The Bobcats last competed Sept. 28-29 at the Virtues Intercollegiate, where Ohio placed eighth and Gray Lamont placed 13th.
SOCCER

The Ohio soccer team (9-1-4, 4-0-3 MAC) is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 17 when then Bobcats host Toledo (5-6-3,2-3-2 MAC). First touch is set for 4 p.m. at Chessa Field and can be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off a 2-0-0 week, defeating Eastern Michigan, 1-0, last Thursday and taking down Ball State, 2-1 on the road on Sunday. In Sunday's match, sophomore Jaimason Brooker (Powell, Ohio) led the Bobcats with three shots on goal, converting two into goals with one assist from sophomore Anna Burchett (Prestonburg, Ky.).
Toledo is coming off a 1-1 week where they fell to Buffalo on Thursday, before defeating Miami on Sunday.
CROSS COUNTRY

The Ohio men's and women's cross country team is back in action for their final tune-up before MACs this Friday, Oct. 18 when they head to Peoria, Ill. for for the 2024 Bradley Pink Invitational. The meet will take place at the Newman Golf Course, which is the site of this year's Great Lakes Regional. The men's 8k is set to start at 4 p.m. ET, while the women's 6k is scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m. ET.
Ohio last competed on Oct. 5 at the Live at Lou Classic in Louisville, Ky. In the women's 5k gold race, Ohio placed third out of 27 teams. In the men's 8k gold race, the Bobcats finished in 11th place out of a field of 28 teams. Junior Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) was Ohio's overall top performer of the day. Mason placed 13th in the women's race with a personal-best time of 17:19.2.

The Ohio volleyball team (7-10, 3-3 MAC) returns to Athens for more MAC play this week starting on Friday, Oct. 18 when Ohio hosts Ball State (10-8, 3-4 MAC). First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside the Convocation Center. Ohio is back on the court the next night, on Saturday, Oct. 19 when Ohio plays host to Miami (6-12, 0-7 MAC) for the 'Battle of the Bricks'. First serve is set for 4 p.m. in the Convo. Both matches can be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off a 1-1 week, with Ohio falling to Western Michigan, before defeating NIU on Friday in DeKalb. In Friday's win, junior Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) led Ohio's offense with 14 kills and 19.5 points. Kharchynska recorded a .357 hitting percentage, three aces and five block assists. Graduate student Elizabeth Hoerlein (Mason, Ohio) recorded an impressive career-high .800 hitting percentage with eight kills on 10 total attacks. In addition, Hoerlein tallied 10.0 points three blocks. Sophomore Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) also tallied eight kills with 8.0 points and a .375 hitting percentage.
Ball State is coming off a 1-1 weekend where they fell to Buffalo and defeated Akron in three sets, while Miami is coming off an 0-2 weekend, with loses to Buffalo and Akron.
SWIM AND DIVE

The Ohio swimming and diving team is back in action Oct. 18-19 when they head to Normal, Ill. to take on Illinois State. Events on Friday are set to start at 5 p.m. ET, with Saturday's events set to begin at 1 p.m. at Horton Pool.
Ohio is coming off a dominating 227-73 victory over Toledo in the season opener on Friday. The Bobcats won 15-of-16 events in the victory. Illinois State fell to Indiana State in their season opener on Friday.
FIELD HOCKEY

The Ohio field hockey team (5-8, 2-3 MAC) is back in action for one game this week. The Bobcats will host Kent State (3-10, 2-2 MAC on Sunday, Oct. 20. First touch is set for 12 p.m. at Pruitt Field and can be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio Is coming off a 1-1 week with the Bobcats defeating Bellermine on the road Friday, before falling to Penn State on Sunday.
Kent State enters the matchup with Ohio after an 0-2 week, falling to James Madison and Ohio State. The Flashes will face off with Central Michigan on Friday before heading to Athens on Sunday.
