ATHENS, Ohio –
Shaun Cook has been named the Ohio football program's general manager, as announced by Head Coach John Hauser on Monday (March 16).

"The general manager's role is central to building and sustaining a program as college football continues to evolve. Shaun's addition represents an important step forward as we position our program to compete and thrive in this new era of college athletics," Hauser said. "Shaun brings valuable experience from some outstanding college football programs, strong relationships within the football community, and a deep understanding of the modern college football structure. We are confident his leadership and vision will be a major asset to our staff, our players, and the future of Ohio University football."

Cook comes to Ohio by way of Texas A&M, where he served as the Aggies' assistant director of player personnel from Dec. 2023 through the 2025 season. There, he contributed to multiple top-ranked high school and transfer portal classes, evaluating and prioritizing both high school and portal prospects. Cook primarily supported the defense's recruiting efforts, directing all scouting and recruiting operations.

"My family and I are so grateful and humbled to be welcomed into the Bobcat community. We couldn't be more excited to be a part of something so special here at Ohio University," said Cook. "The Bobcats have a strong tradition of on-field excellence, and I am honored to have the chance to contribute to it. Thank you, Coach Hauser, for this incredible opportunity. I can't wait to get to work."

Prior to Texas A&M, Cook spent Jan. 2022 – Dec. 2023 at Duke as the assistant director of scouting. There, he oversaw all offensive scouting and recruiting operations, conducting nationwide identification and evaluation of prospects.

Previously, Cook served as the assistant director of player personnel at UConn for the 2021 season following a brief stint as a scout and content creator for The 33rd Team.  From Aug. 2020 – Jan. 2021, Cook worked in the NFL in GSIS support and statistics quality assurance, verifying live play-by-play data to ensure statistical accuracy and compliance. Cook spent the 2019 season in Nashville, Tenn., working at Vanderbilt as a football personnel and recruiting assistant. From Feb. 2016 – Aug. 2019, Cook was a football personnel and recruiting assistant for the Tennessee Vols.

A Nashville native, Cook graduated from Tennessee with a degree in recreation and sport management. He and his wife, Anna, recently welcomed a daughter, Violet.
