ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Athletics is saddened to hear of the passing of Kermit Blosser Hall of Fame member Don "Skip" Hoovler.
A member of the football program from 1961-64, Hoovler was inducted into the Kermit Blosser Hall of Fame in 1978. Hoolver earned first-team All-MAC honors in football three successive years (1962, 1963, and 1964), was a two-time honorable mention All-American honoree for both the Associated Press and
United Press International (1963-64) and rounded out his collegiate career with a first-team All-American nod from Williamson in 1964.
Hoovler co-captained the 1964 team, was president of his senior class, and played in the Senior Bowl Game in 1964. He had a brief career with the New York Jets and the Houston Oilers in 1965.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Tamara (Foor) Hoovler, his three children, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A visitation (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) and memorial service (2-3 p.m.) will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Pataskala United Methodist Church, 458 South Main Street, Pataskala, with a Celebration of Life to be held immediately thereafter (3:30 - 6:30 p.m.) at Williams Farm, 8405 York Road S.W., Pataskala.
