Ohio Athletics Set to Induct Kermit Blosser Hall of Fame Class of 2023 Homecoming Weekend

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will recognize the Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2023 at football's homecoming game against Kent State on Saturday, Oct. 7. This year's class includes Matt Engleka (Baseball, 1992-95), Jack Leveck (Football, 1968-71) and Savannah Jo (Dorsey) Seigneur (Softball, 2013-17). The Ohio University Alumni Association's (OUAA) Alumnus of the Year, Perry Sook, will be honored during the game as well.
 
Sook will be recognized during the OUAA's awards during the first quarter of the game followed by the three Hall of Fame inductees in the second quarter. Both recognitions will occur during the first timeout.
 
Matt Engleka was a four-year letterwinner, playing for the baseball team from 1992-95. Playing at the shortstop position, he earned several conference and regional honors including Honorable Mention All-MAC (1993), First Team All-MAC (1994-95) and First Team All-Mid East Regional (1995). Engleka was also named to the Academic All-MAC First Team in 1994-95.
 
Engleka served as a team captain in 1995 and received several team awards during his time at Ohio. He was named the 1993 recipient of the Bob Adams Award, which is given to the most outstanding Ohio University baseball sophomore. Later, Engleka was selected as the 1994-95 Ohio Baseball Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Engleka still ranks fourth in program history in assists in a single season, recording 180 during the 1995 season. He also ranks seventh in career base on balls (101) and is tied second for single season base on balls (46, 1995).
 
In the 46th round of the 1995 MLB Draft, Engleka was drafted by the Detroit Tigers. He played for the Jamestown Jammers in 1995, the short season single-affiliate of the Tigers. In 1996, Engleka played for the Fayetteville Generals, the single-A affiliate of the Tigers.
 
Jack Leveck played for the Ohio football team from 1968-71. The 1968 Freshman Team co-captain earned several conference and national honors during his time with the Bobcats.
 
Leveck was named to the 1970 All-MAC Second Team, 1971 All-MAC First Team and was selected as an Honorable Mention All-American in 1971. Leveck also received the Most Valuable Player Green and White Club Award in 1971.
 
He finished his career at Ohio ranking third in program history for single-season total tackles (169, 1971). Averaging 18.8 tackles per game, Leveck was on track to take first in this category but a canceled game against Marshall lead to a nine-game 1971 season.
 
Leveck started his NFL career as an undrafted free agent, making the cut in front of two drafted linebackers with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played with the Cardinals from 1973-74 and the Cleveland Browns for the 1975 season.
 
Savannah Jo (Dorsey) Seigneur competed as a member of the Ohio softball team from 2013-17. She made many contributions to the success of the program as one of its most decorated and notable players.
 
Seigneur holds career program records in six different categories. After five seasons at Ohio, she amassed 89 career wins, 180 appearances, 953.1 innings pitched, 1,194 strikeouts, 80 complete games and 23 shutouts.
 
Seigneur garnered several honors and awards from the start of her career at Ohio. The 14-time MAC East Pitcher of the Week was named a member of the 2013 MAC All-Freshman Team. As a freshman, she earned spots on the single-season records list for appearances (43, t-fourth), strikeouts (184, eighth), shutouts (4, t-sixth).
 
During the 2014 season, Seigneur was named the MAC All-Tournament Team MVP in addition to earning Second Team All-MAC and Second Team All-Region honors. Her success on the field continued as she recorded several more single-season program bests. Seigneur ranks first in appearances (49, tied), innings pitched (268.1) and complete games (29). She also sits at second for wins (25, 2014 & 2017), third for games started (35), third in strikeouts (198) and is tied for third in shutouts (8).
 
Seigneur continued her success into the 2016 season. The MAC Pitcher of the Year was named First Team All-MAC and First Team All-Region. Following her fourth season with the Bobcats, she earned seven more spots on the single-season records list. Seigneur top marks from 2016 includes wins (46, third), games started (29, t-ninth), appearances (46, second), innings pitched (248.2, 2016), strikeouts (336, second), complete games (20, eighth) and shutouts (6, t-fourth).
 
Seigneur capped off her final season and an impressive collegiate career with many more athletic and academic honors. She was selected for the All-MAC First Team and All-Region Second Team. In addition to receiving First Team Academic All-MAC honors, Seigneur was named the recipient of NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete and Distinguished Scholar Athlete awards, while also leading the NCAA in strikeouts. 
 
After the conclusion of her senior season, Seigneur had added her name to six more single-season records and tied her second-best mark for wins (25) previously set in 2014. She finished her time as a Bobcat ranked fifth in games started (33), third in innings pitched (247.0), sixth in ERA (1.13), first in strikeouts (360), tied for second in complete games (28) and second for shutouts (10).
 
Perry Sook has not only established a successful professional legacy as Chairman and CEO of Nexstar Media Group, but he has continuously made many contributions to the university. For more than 20 years, Sook served The Ohio University Foundation Board of Trustees.
 
Sook is remarked as an inspirational leader when it comes to giving back to Ohio. In 2018, Sook and his wife, Sandy, made a generous donation for the building of the Perry and Sandy Sook Academic Center at Peden Stadium in 2018. Their contribution helped create an athletics facility dedicated to providing student athletes with collaborative study space.
