AKRON, Ohio— Led by fifth year
Stephanie Pierce's fastest qualifying time of the day in the women's 800 meter race and senior
Carina Weaver's sixth place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase, the Ohio track & field team wrapped up day two of the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the Akron Zips.
In addition to being her season-best, Pierce's (Fairborn, Ohio) 2:10.77 finish automatically qualified her for finals on Saturday. Weaver (Lexington, Ohio) crossed the finish line for the steeplechase at 10:50:38.
Fifth year
Autumn Mohan's (Chillicothe, Ohio) 13.72 meter throw marked her first time on the podium for shot put, putting her at seventh overall. Sophomore
Millie Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) and junior
Jordan Baith (Seville, Ohio) also competed, finishing with 12.26 and 11.80 meter throws, respectively.
Mohan, Baith and Ryan opened day two for the Bobcats with the hammer throw. Mohan finished with a 45.44 meter throw, Baith's best throw landed at 41.66 meters and Ryan finished the event with a 38.91 meter throw.
Senior
Kassidy Betzing (Pomeroy, Ohio) represented Ohio in the long jump. She set her second personal record of the weekend, recording a 5.61 meter jump.
Junior
Imani Brown (Crown Point, Ind.) was the sole Bobcat In the 400 meter dash, finishing with a season-best 58:01 time. Freshman
Josie Knierim (McConnelsville, Ohio) and redshirt senior
Taniah Stephens (Eerie, Pa.) represented Ohio in the 100 meter dash. Knierim finished with a time of 12:09 and Stephens crossed the finish line at 12:21.
Up next, the Bobcats return to action tomorrow (May 13) for the third and final day of the MAC Championships.
