ATHENS, Ohio—As the Ohio football program closes in on their annual spring game, redshirt junior tight end
Tyler Foster (Pickerington, Ohio) feels confident the Bobcats are ready for action.
On progress in spring camp
"We're coming together as a team really well. Our offense has done a lot of new stuff that we have seen in the past and we're executing really well. Defense looks really good, too. As a team, we're a lot better than we were a couple months ago."
On goals for himself and the other tight ends
"I don't really have control over this goal, but I'd like our room [tight ends] the ball more. I think we have a lot of playmakers in our room and we could showcase those skills pretty well. We've had the targets recently and we have been [performing] recently, so I'm happy to see that. For myself, I've been focusing on getting better at line blocking. I've improved a little bit in that regard."
On the differences between 2022 and 2023 spring camps
"The bar is higher. Coach says every day we're raising the bar and we have to come to work every single day. It's different than it has been in the past, but it's different in a good way."
On going from the hunter to the hunted
"We just know that we've got a target on our back. A lot of teams most likely have our game circled on their calendars. We have to be ready to play every week because we have to go 1-0 every week if we want to get back to Detroit."
On what is most important for younger teammates' success
"Just getting all the plays down. I mean, most of the stuff is the same, concept-wise, but we changed a lot of names of things. Just hammering down and making sure we're really fundamentally sound."
