COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio track and field team competed in the Jesse Owens Track Classic this past weekend (April 21-22), hosted by Ohio State.
In the 1500m, freshman Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) came in first for the Bobcats, taking 10th and finishing in 4:37.29. Fifth year Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio) followed in 12th, clocking 4:37.29, while sophomores Theresa Hagey (Akron, Ohio) and Kelsi Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) ran 4:39.28 and 4:39.57. Senior Alyssa Christian (Newark, Ohio) and freshman Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) also competed, finishing in 4:43.72 and 4:45.13.
Pierce and Doughman ran in the 800m as well with Pierce placing fifth. Pierce ran 2:14.02, while Doughman and freshman Sophie Besett (Twinsburg, Ohio) finished in 2:17.39 and 2:24.55.
Fifth year Taniah Stephens (Erie, Pa.) ran 25.68 in the 200m and 12.67 in the 100m, while freshman Maggie Stewart (Worthington, Ohio) clocked 12.74.
In the 5000m, fifth year Madelyn Bartolone (Massillon, Ohio) finished 13th with a time of 17:29.01. Sophomore Sarah Liederbach (Petoskey, Mich.) came in next for Ohio, clocking 17:37.92 with freshman Morgan Roth (Brunswick, Ohio) finishing in 17:55.05. Redshirt junior Bailey Roberts (North Kingsville, Ohio) and sophomore Avril Moyer (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) came in at 18:30.98 and 18:32.79.
Junior Imani Brown (Crown Point, Ind.) ran 58.40 in the 400m and recorded a mark of 1.55m in the jump high.
In the 3000m steeplechase, senior Carina Weaver (Lexington, Ohio) came in third with a time of 10:58.62. Junior Kenna Loveless (Tallmadge, Ohio) placed seventh in 11:22.86, while freshman Jenna Razavi (Medina, Ohio) took ninth in 11:46.28.
The team of Besett, freshman Ashley Long (Hilliard, Ohio), Brown, and Stephens clocked a time of 4:01.53 in the 4x400m.
Fifth year Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) competed in the discus, shot put, and hammer throw, recording marks of 40.71m, 12.08m, and 46.32m, respectively. Junior Jordan Baith (Seville, Ohio) also competed in the discus, throwing 38.91m.
Junior Emily McKenzie (Dillsburg, Pa.) grabbed another top-8 finish for the Bobcats in the triple jump to close out the meet. McKenzie placed seventh with a jump of 11.49m.
Up next, Ohio will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the Drake Relays April 27-28.
