PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

Athens, Ohio –  It's MAC Tournament time for Ohio men's basketball and Ohio baseball returns to Athens for the first time this season. Check out everything going on in Ohio Athletics with this week's Paw Prints. 
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL

The fifth-seeded Ohio men's basketball team (18-12) opens play at the 2023 Mid-American Conference Tournament in Cleveland on Thursday, March 9 against No. 4 Ball State (20-11). Tip-off is scheduled for 30 minutes following game one (roughly 1:30 p.m.) inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The game will be seen on ESPN+. 

The winner on this game will take on the winner of No. 1 Toledo and No. 8 Miami on Friday, March 10 at 5 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

This Ohio baseball team (2-8) is back in action this week for four game. Ohio opens the week on Wednesday, March 8 when they head to Lexington, Ky. to take on Kentucky (9-2). First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Kentucky Proud Park and can be seen on SEC Network+.

Ohio finally opens the 2023 home slate this weekend March 10-12 when they host Bowling Green (2-8) for a three-game series. Ohio opens the weekend on Friday at 4 p.m., before returning to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. Ohio and the Falcons conclude the weekend on Sunday at 1 p.m. All game will take place at Bob Wren Stadium and will currently be streamed on YouTube.

The Ohio softball team (6-10) is back in action this week for five more games. Ohio opens the week on Wednesday, March 8 when they head to Huntington, W. Va. to take on Marshall (16-2). First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m. at Dot Hicks Field and can be seen on ESPN+. 

The Bobcats then head to Cookeville, Tenn. March 10-11 for the 2023 Tennessee Tech Tournament. Ohio opens the weekend on Friday at 11 a.m. when they take on Robert Morris (5-9), before taking on host Tennessee Tech (1-15) at 1:30 p.m. later in the day. Ohio concludes the weekend on Saturday, March 11 when they battle it out with Robert Morris at 11 a.m., before wrapping up against Tennessee Tech at 4 p.m. All the games will take place at the Tech Softball Field and be streamed on ESPN+.

SWIMMING

Seven members of the Ohio swim team will head to Elkhart, Ind. for the 2023 CSCAA National Invitational Championships March 9-11. The three-day event will take place at the Elkhart Health & Aquatics Center. 

Sophomore Raphaelle Anglade, graduate student Athena Aravantinou, freshman Casadie DiBetta, freshman and MAC Champion Lauren Hartel, junior Gabrielle Brust, junior Peyton Farrell and junior Meg Voigt will all represent the Bobcats in the event. 
 
DIVING
March 9 – 11 / at NCAA Zone C Diving Championships / Bloomington, Ind. / Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center / Meet Information
 
Senior diver Sienna Breton heads to Bloomington, Ind. for the 2023 Zone C Diving Championships, March 9-11. Breton will compete in the 1-meter and 3- meter diving events inside the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center.
