OXFORD, Ohio – The Ohio swimming and diving team returned to action at the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championships Thursday (Feb. 23) inside the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on the campus of Miami. After day two, the Bobcats sit in fifth place with 161 points.
In the 500-free final, freshman
Lauren Hartel (Arlington, Va.) placed third overall with a time of 4:49.63, while senior
Emma Fortman (Madeira, Ohio) placed sixth with a time of 4:52.60. In the 500-free consolation final, junior
Morgan Croaning (Carmel, Ind.) finished fifth, 13
th overall, with a time of 4:56.45.
In the 200 IM, junior
Ami Hornyak (Debrecen, Hungary) finished third overall with a time of 1:58.10. Finishing fifth overall with a time of 2:00.28 was senior
McKenzie Grau (Mason, Ohio), while finishing eighth in the 'B' final and 16
th overall was freshman
Emily Ellsworth with a time of 2:03.53.
In the 50 free, junior
Caroline Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa.) placed eight, touching in with a time of 23.03.
In the 200-frestyle relay team of Grau, Hornyak, Fortman and Dunigan placed fifth with a time of 1:31.55.
The Bobcats are back in action for day three of the MAC Championships on Friday, Feb. 24. Preliminary races are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., with finals scheduled for 6 p.m.
