ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio swimming and diving team was named CSCAA Scholar All-American Teams, the organization announced. Along with the team recognition, five Bobcats were named CSCAA Individual Scholar All-Americans.
Individually,
Caroline Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa.),
Casadie DiBetta (St. Clairsville, Ohio),
Gabrielle McKee (Gilbertsville, Pa.),
Julia Strine (Shippensburg, Pa.) and
Zita Szoke (Hodmezovasarhely, Hungary) were named Second Team CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American.
To earn this prestigious honor, teams were required to achieve a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher during the Spring 2025 semester.
The Bobcats finished the spring semester with a 3.63 team GPA. Ohio was also recognized in the fall for the Team recognition.
This is the first time that Dunigan, an athletic training major with a 3.786 GPA has earned the recognition. At the MAC Championships she placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of 22.45, placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.14 and placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 49.27. She was a MAC Champion in the 200-yard medley relay and a member of the 400-yard medley relay and 400-yard medley relay both of which placed second. She was named Second Team All-MAC and was named CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-MAC.
This is the third time that DiBetta has earned a spot on the individual team. The early childhood education major sports a 3.988 GPA and is coming off another stellar MAC Championships. DiBetta won the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events, earning back-to-back championships in those events. DiBetta finished the 100-yard breaststroke in a school record time of 59.81 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:10.99, also breaking her own Ohio record. DiBetta was also a part of the MAC Champion 200-medley relay race that set the Ohio record with a time of 1:36.98 and competed in the 400-medley relay where Ohio finished second with a school record of 3:34.28. DiBetta also earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team, while helping Ohio place second at the 2025 MAC Championships. She also an Academic All-MAC Team and CSC Academic All-District selection.
McKee, an applied nutrition major with a 3.418 GPA, concluded her time at Ohio with the best season of her career. At the MAC Championships, McKee won the 400-yard individual medley with a personal best time of 4:16.17. She placed second in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1650-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 16:48.98. She also led off the 800-yard freestyle relay that placed fourth with a personal best time of 1:48.75. McKee received First Team All-MAC honors and was named Academic All-MAC.
This is the second time that Strine, a biological sciences major with a. 3.752 GPA, as earned to recognition. This season at the MAC Championships, Strine placed second with a personal best time of 1:00.53 in the 100-yard breaststroke. She also placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a personal best time of 2:11.91 and swam a personal best in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.26. Strine earned Second Team All-MAC Honors and was named Academic All-MAC.
Finally, Szoke, a linguistics major with a 3.682 GPA earns the honor for the second time in her career. At the MAC Championships, Szoke was the MAC Champion in the 50-, 100-, 200-yard freestyles and 200-yard medley relay and was a member of the 400-yard medley relay as well as the 400- and 200-yard freestyle relays that all placed second. At the NCAA Championships, Szoke placed 44th in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 22.26, placed 20th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.54 setting a school career and conference record and placed 11th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.62, setting a new school and conference record. Szoke became the first Ohio swimmer to earn All-American status since 2000 and highest NCAA Championship finish since 1995. Szoke finished the season as the school record holder in the 50,100, and 200 yard free as well as the 400 and 800 free relays and the 200 and 400 medley relays. Szoke was also named a CSCAA Second Team All-American and earned CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-MAC honors.
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections, must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
