GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Ohio men's golf team wrapped up play yesterday (Oct. 30) at the Bryan National Collegiate. Due to inclement weather, the three-day event turned into two days over Sunday and Monday.
Ohio finished in 12th place over the three rounds. The Bobcats had a team score of 925 (+61) falling short of the tournament hosts and winners, UNC-Greensboro. Elon, William & Mary, South Dakota, High Point, Tennessee Tech, Queens University of Charlotte, George Mason, Delaware, Marshall, Winthrop, and North Carolina A&T were also in attendance.
Senior Jared DeVille (Loveland, Ohio) and sophomore Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio) were the top performers for Ohio during the tournament. Finishing in a tie for 54th, the two golfers finished at +12 with a total of 228.
Following just two strokes behind DeVille and Trafford, senior Jack Neville (Terrace Park, Ohio) ended in a tie for 60th. The senior was consistent throughout his three rounds, finishing at +14 with 230 total shots.
Junior Matt Daulton (Lebanon, Ohio) was a shot back of Neville with a 231 for the tournament. His score of +15 placed him in a tie for 62nd.
Placing in a tie for 74th, sophomore Will Kates (Centennial, Colorado) shot a 237 (+21). Junior Sam Hogan (Burlington, Canada) followed behind Kates, shooting a 252 (+36).
The tournament concluded the fall season for the Bobcats. Ohio will have to wait until Feb. 5th to return to the course when they partake in the MAC/A10 Match Play tournament. The two-day affair will take place in Palm City, Fla. at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.
