Huntington, W. Va. -- The Ohio track & field team kicks of the indoor season at the Marshall Classic today (Jan. 14) inside the Chris Cline Athletics Complex. Field events began at 10:30 a.m. ET with the running events starting at 12 p.m. ET.
The Bobcats are led by fifth years Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio) and Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) as well as redshirt senior Taniah Stephens (Erie, Pa.). Last indoor season, Pierce earned All-MAC honors with a sixth-place finish in the mile, clocking a personal best of 4:56.38. Pierce also competed in the 4x400 alongside Stephens who recorded PR in the 200m dash. Her time of 24.88 allowed her to advance to the finals. Mohan made an appearance at the MAC Indoor Championships as well, competing in the weight throw and shot put. Mohan recorded throws of 16.55m and 13.35.
Ohio is joined by transfers Larissa Manciaz (Eagle Lake, Texas) and Imani Brown (Crown Point, Ind.), in addition to 13 freshmen. Among the freshman class is the MAC Cross Country Freshman of the Year Leila Boussedra (Worthington, Ohio), who ran the second fastest 6k time in school history (20:44.2) to secure her a 12th place finish at the MAC Championships.
Following today's meet, the Bobcats will compete at the YSU Collegiate Invitational (Jan 20) and IU Relays (Jan 27-28).
In February, Ohio will attend the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 3-4) and SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games (Feb 11) before closing out the indoor season with the Virginia Tech Challenge (Feb 17-18) and Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships (Feb 24-25).
