HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Ohio Bobcats (3-1-1) took to the road for a Thursday night contest against Northern Kentucky (0-4-1) of the Horizon league for a non-conference matchup, coming out victorious by a 2-0 score.
Celeste Sloma had another shutout with two saves in the first half, keeping the Bobcats in the game defensively. The Bobcats also built up their offensive momentum heading into the second half with a shot that went wide on the right from
Shae Robertson and a shot from
Regan Berg.
Coming out for the second half, the Bobcats had a renewed offensive spirit, putting pressure on the Norse backline. The score remained 0-0 until the 56th minute when the Bobcats broke through with a goal from
Shae Robertson, assisted by
Abby Townsend. Townsend continued to push the offensive threat, eventually doubling the Bobcats lead less than 10 minutes later with a 64th minute goal. The Bobcats got a total of 6 shots in the second half, four of them being on goal and 2 off target.
The Bobcats earned their second shutout in a row, limiting the Norse to only two shots and increased their winning streak to 3.
Individual highlights included shots from three different Bobcats (Townsend, Robertson, and Gnocchi),
Celeste Sloma and the Bobcat defense's third shutout in five games, and 19 Bobcats seeing at least ten minutes of game action.
