Kent, Ohio – The Ohio soccer team (4-3-1) returned to action this Thursday (Sept 22), falling to Kent State (1-5-2), on the road at Dix Stadium.
Kent State opened the scoring in the first half with a goal in the 32nd minute by Freshman Kelsey Salopek. The Bobcats battled back with shots from Redshirt Senior Haley Miller, Junior Shae Robertson, and Freshman Maia Kaufman to end the first half.
Kent State and Kelsey Salopek struck again in the 49th minute of play with her second goal of the game, putting the Golden Eagles up 2-0. The Bobcats continued to push back and generated 10 shots in the second half, 4 of them being on target.
Offensively, Senior Regan Berg led the Bobcat's with 3 shots and 2 shots on goal. Following Berg, Junior Shae Robertson and Freshman Haley Miller both had 2 shots, and 1 shot on goal each.
In goal, Freshman goalkeeper Celeste Sloma started for the Bobcats, facing 4 shots, making one save, and allowing one goal in her 45 minutes in net. Senior Sam Wexell came in to start the second half with similar action having one save, 4 shots faced and one goal allowed.
Overall, Ohio outshot Kent 13-8, forcing 5 saves on the Golden Eagles goalkeeper. Ohio also had the advantage in corner kicks, taking five compared to the three from Kent. The Bobcats had great opportunities throughout the 90 minutes yet were unable to capitalize, falling 2-0.

The Bobcats will return home this Sunday (Sept. 25) to play Buffalo on Chessa Field. Kickoff is set for 1 pm.
