ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams opened up the 2022 season by hosting the Ohio XC Invitational. The Bobcats had competitive finishes with the women's team placing first and the men's team placing third.
The women's team finished first with 29 points, edging out Toledo by a point. The Bobcats were led by freshmen
Leila Boussedra (18:17.3) and
Alyssa Mason (18:29.6), sophomore
Theresa Hagey (18:33.1), and graduate student
Stephanie Pierce (18:36.2) who came in fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh place. Sophomore
Kelsi Harris was also scored, finishing 13
th in 18:46.3.
The men's team accumulated 67 points and was led by graduate student
Ethan Frisone who placed seventh with a time of 15:39.2. Following close behind was junior Tony Tonkovich who finished ninth in 15:43.0. Other scorers for Ohio were freshman
Rocco DeVincent (15:58.4), junior
Wendesen King (16:05.1), and sophomore
Jake Ethridge (16:05.9) who placed 15
th, 17
th, and 19
th.
Up next, the Bobcats will head to Bloomington, Ind. to compete in the Coaching Tree Invitational hosted by Indiana University on Sept. 16.
