Ohio Women's Golf Finishes 9th at the Jennifer Duke Invitational

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Ohio's women's golf team finished up their third and final round today (Sept. 13), at The Jennifer Duke Invitational placing 8th overall. The invitational started on Monday morning (Sept. 12), consisting of three rounds and 54 holes over the course of two days. As a team, the Bobcats finished with a score of 944 (+92). Individually, Ohio was led by Mackenzie McRee with a total score of 231 (+18), finishing in 17th place.Â
The first 36 holes of play on Monday left the Bobcats in 7th place tied with Akron to start today's final round. The team's accumulated score from rounds one and two were recorded as 635 (+67), putting the Bobcat's in a position to succeed for today's final round. The Bobcat's third and final round came out to be their best overall score of the Invitational shooting a 309. Breaking it down further, McRee shot a 76, Ovens shot a 78, Vega-Rivera had a great improvement with a 73, Longstreth reached an 83, and Post completed the third round shooting an 82.
Competing as an individual in the Jennifer Duke Invitational, Thanya Arasu had a total score of 248 (+35). Her first round score was an 84, and her last two rounds she shot an 82. Arasu finished in 52nd place tied with Sloane Post.
The final rankings for the tournament put Mackenzie McRee in 17th place, Avery Ovens in 27th, Mariana Vega-Rivera in 31st, and Sydney Longstreth in 45th. The first place golfer for the 2022 Jennifer Duke Invitational was Emma McMyker from Xavier, shooting a 220 and the first place team topping the leader board was Western Carolina at +45 par and a score of 897. Â
