Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Ohio volleyball team (0-2,) fell to the No. 11 Kentucky (1-1) in three sets (20-25, 11-25, 18-25) in the Memorial Coliseum on Sunday (Aug. 28).
Ohio hit .089 to Kentucky's .380 and were hindered by 21 attacking errors.
The Bobcats kept the Wildcats in range during set one but were never able to regain the lead. Despite seven ties, Ohio dropped the first set 25-20. A 25-11 loss in set two did not stop the Bobcats. Ohio continued the fight and kept Kentucky within reach at the beginning of set three. A 7-0 run by the Wildcats helped to extend Kentucky's lead and secure them the 3-0 victory, despite a late 5-1 run by the Bobcats.
Senior middle blocker Caitlin O'Farrell (Suwanee, Ga.) led Ohio offensively for the second night with seven kills. Sophomore outside hitter Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) also saw seven kills while three Bobcats collected four kills apiece (Anna Kharchynska, Olivia Margolies, and Kristy Frank).
Senior setter Parker Kwiatkowski (Grand Rapids, Mich.) recorded 13 assists and was followed by junior setter Tria McLean (Battle Creek, Neb.) who tallied 10. Defensively, junior libero Sam Steele led the match in digs with 16, four more than Kentucky's leader.
Up next, Ohio will travel to New Orleans, La. to compete in the Tulane Invitational. The Bobcats will take on Kansas City first on Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. EST.
