CLEVELAND -- In a vote of the league's 12 head coaches, the Ohio soccer team was selected to take the regular season title in the 2022 Mid-American Conference Preseason Poll, the conference announced today (Aug. 17). The Bobcats earned 131 points and three first-place votes. The Bobcats also garnered two votes to win the tournament title.
Just behind the Bobcats was Bowling Green, who earned 127 points and six first-place votes and were selected to win the MAC Tournament with four votes.
Right behind BGSU is Buffalo (126), Kent State (100), Toledo (87), Miami (77), Ball State (75), Central Michigan (75), Western Michigan (55), Eastern Michigan (39), Akron (29) and Northern Illinois (15).
Ohio women's soccer is coming off a record-setting 2021 season, as the team finished with their highest winning percentage (.694) since the 2002 season, alongside the highest conference win total (7) since 2006. The Bobcats will return with many returning players on their roster including redshirt seniors;

The Bobcats get the regular season started on Thursday, Aug. 18 when they head to Duquesne to take on the Dukes. First touch is set for 4 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pa.
