ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio soccer team begins its 2022 season on Thursday (Aug. 18) against Duquesne.
The Bobcats will return to the soccer field in Pittsburgh, PA with many returning players on their roster including redshirt seniors;
Sam Wexell,
Haley Miller, and graduate student
Abby Townsend. These three are expected to have a large impact on the team and be leaders for the transfers and incoming freshman.
Coach
Aaron Rodgers brought in three transfer students to the roster for the 2022 season;
Kali Stock (Northern Illinois),
Cailynn Adelman (American), and
Sydney Dawson (Clemson). As well as seven new signees,
Celeste Sloma (Columbus, Ohio),
Scout Murray (Chicago, Ill.),
Hailey Jeng (Centerville, Ohio),
Eve Berish (Hudson, Ohio),
Sarah Ardus (Moorseville, N.C.),
Rayann Pruss (Perrysburg, Ohio), and
Maia Kaufman (Westerville, Ohio).
Ohio women's soccer is coming off a record-setting 2021 season, as the team finished with their highest winning percentage (.694) since the 2002 season, alongside the highest conference win total (7) since 2006. Ohio began conference play with nine straight games without a loss, en route to finishing the regular season in second place in the MAC, earning a first round bye in the MAC Tournament and advancing straight to the semifinal round. Rodgers earned MAC Coach of the Year honors and four players earned All-MAC team recognition.
