Ohio Football Alumnus Takes USFL Championship with Birmingham Stallions

Canton, Ohio—Ohio football alumnus Quentin Poling (Gomer, Ohio) and the Birmingham Stallions claimed the inaugural United States Football League championship, defeating the Philadelphia Stars 33-30 at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

The Stallions finished the regular season 9-1, defeating the New Orleans Breakers 31-17 in the south division finals to advance to the championship game.

Poling played in four games, finishing the season with six tackles. Prior to Birmingham, Poling was drafted in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He joined a handful of NFL practice squads, including the Raiders and Falcons, before signing the the Stallions in May 2022.

Poling played for the Bobcats from 2014-17 after redshirting in 2013. He recorded 373 tackles over his career, ranking him 10th overall in program history. The two-time First Team All-MAC honoree was named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week eight times.
