Ohio Track and Field Begins MAC Outdoor Championships on Thursday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Ohio track and field teams is set to compete at the 2022 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships May 12-14 in Kalamazoo, Mich. The three-day event is hosted by Western Michigan.
Competition begins Thursday, May 12 with the 1,000m race where fifth year Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and graduate student Jessie Hartman (Lebanon, Ohio) will compete. Later in the day in the women's hammer throw, seniors Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) and Rachel Simpson (Port Clinton, Ohio) see action in the event.
The Bobcats are back on Friday, May 13 where senior Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio) will compete in the 800m prelims. Two Bobcats, junior Carina Weaver (Lexington, Ohio) and sophomore Kenna Loveless (Tallmadge, Ohio) will take part in the 3000m steeplechase. Mohan will be back in action later in the day in the shot put, where freshman Millie Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) will join her. Meanwhile, the final event of the day will see junior Kendall Kraft (Wadsworth, Ohio) and freshman Michaela Frey (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) take part in the pole vault.
On the final day of competition, Saturday, May 14, Pierce and junior Alyssa Christian (Newark, Ohio) will participate in the 1500m race, while Bowes and freshman Kelsi Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) are set to compete in the 5000m race. In the triple jump, Ohio will be represented by sophomore Emily McKenzie (Dillsburg, Pa.), while Ryan and sophomore Jordan Baith (Seville, Ohio) will compete in the discus throw. In the final event of the championships, graduate student Taylor Strnad (Brook Park, Ohio) will compete in the high jump.
