ATHENS, Ga. – The Ohio softball team (4-10) returned to action Sunday (March 6) morning at the Bulldog Classic. The Bobcats defeated UMass, 2-0.
Overall, Ohio drove in two runs on five hits and committed one error, while UMass had five hits, no runs and did not commit an error.
Offensively, fifth year
Tori Walker (Plain City, Ohio) went 1-for-3 with two RBI, while sophomore
Yasmine Logan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) also went 1-for-3 on the day with a double.
After four innings of little action, the Bobcats got on the board first in the bottom of the fourth inning after Walker singled left center field to drive home the runners at second and third base. The Bobcats took a 2-0 lead heading into the fifth inning.
The Ohio defense held strong and kept UMass from finding home for the remainder of the game, avoiding a potential comeback situation and giving Ohio its first victory in the Bulldog Classic.
In the circle for the Bobcats was senior
Mackensie Kohl (Corona Del Mar, Calif.) who pitched seven innings and did not give up any runs on five hits in her third win of the season.
