Ohio Track & Field Starts Outdoor Season

OXFORD, Ohio -- The Ohio track & field team began its outdoor season at the Blizzard Buster on Friday (March 18) hosted by Miami (Ohio).
In the track events, sophomore Emma Myers (Logan, Ohio) took second in the 800m with a time of 2:19.12. Myers was followed by junior Alyssa Christian (Newark, Ohio) who clocked a 2:20.58 and placed fourth. In the 5000m, red shirt sophomore Bailey Roberts (North Kingsville, Ohio) finished seventh with a time of 18:27.17 and freshman Sarah Liederbach (Petoskey, Mich.) placed eighth, crossing the finish line in 18:37.04.
In the field events, freshman Michaela Frey (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and junior Kendall Kraft (Wadsworht, Ohio) took second and third in the pole vault. Frey vaulted 3.20m, while Kraft vaulted 3.05m. Junior Kassidy Betzing (Pomeroy, Ohio) placed seventh in the long jump with a jump of 5.28m, while sophomore Emily McKenzie (Dillsburg, Pa.) took fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 10.81m. Senior Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) grabbed three top seven finishes in the shot put, discus, and hammer. Mohan finished second with a throw of 13.80m in the shot put, sixth in the discus with a throw of 42.86m, and seventh in the hammer with a throw of 47.84m. Meanwhile, senior Rachel Simpson (Port Clinton, Ohio) collected third in the discus with a throw of 45.15m.
Up next, the Bobcats will head to NC State to compete in the Raleigh Relays on March 25 and 26.
