EKHART, Ind. – The Ohio women's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition this weekend at the 2022 CSCAA National Invitational Championship at the Beacon Health Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Ind. The Bobcats placed 15
th out of 43 teams with 140 points.
The Bobcats opened competition with the 200 free relay, where the squad of junior
McKenzie Grau (Mason, Ohio), junior
Emma Fortman (Madeira, Ohio), sophomore
Caroline Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa.) and sophomore
Meg Voigt (Bryan, Ohio) placed 13
th with a time of 1:33.63.
In the 500-yard freestyle. Fortman placed seventh in the 'B' final, and 17
th overall, touching in with a time of 4:57.70. In the 200-yard IM, sophomore
Gabrielle Brust (Granville, Ohio) placed eighth in the 'B' final, and 18
thoverall, finishing with a time of 2:02.94.
In the 50 free 'B' final, Dunigan finished fifth, 15
th overall, wrapping up the event with a time of 23.31.
In the 400-yard medley relay, the Ohio squad of senior
Athena Aravantinou (North Bethesda, Md.), freshman
Edie Sawyer (Cranberry Township, Pa.), Brust and Grau finished 12
th with a time of 3:43.14. The in the 200-yard medley relay, the Bobcats team of Aravantinou, freshman
Julia Strine (Cranberry Township, Pa.), Brust and Dunigan finished 10
th with a time of 1:42.00.
Then in the 800 free relay, the Bobcats' squad of Fortman, junior
Madeline Marks (Bentonville, Ark.), Aravantinou and Grau finished in eighth place with a time of 7:27.98.
Aravantinou was back in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing fifth in the 'B' final anf 15
th overall, touching in with a time of 2:00.42. In the 200 fly, Marks finished sixth in the 'B' final and 16
th overall, finishing the race in 2:01.96.
In the final event of the competition, the Ohio 400-yard freestyle relay team of Dunigan, Fortman, Grau and senior
Kendra Sheehan (Columbus, Ohio) finished 10
th with a time of 3:22.39.
