
Ohio Swimming and Diving Finishes Fourth at MAC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Ohio swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by Bowling Green, Saturday night (Feb. 26). The Bobcats wrapped up the four-day event in fourth place with 367.5 total points.
At the end of the four-day event, junior Emma Fortman (Maderia, Ohio), sophomore Gabrielle Brust (Granville, Ohio) and junior McKenzie Grau (Mason, Ohio) were all named to the All-MAC Second Team.
" We had a great meet this weekend at MACs to finish our season," head coach Mason Norman said. "Fourth overall in the conference for the second-straight season is something we are extremely pleased with. We had three individuals make the All-Mac Second Team. We set a team record and had numerous top 10 performances individually and on relays. I can't thank our seniors enough for the culture that they have helped create and I want to thank our parents too for their support all week long."
In the first event of the evening, sophomore Morgan Croaning (Carmel, Ind.) placed fifth in the 1650 free event, finishing with a time of 16:69.90. Freshman Gabrielle McKee (Gilbertsville, Pa.) also earned points for the Bobcats, placing 11th with a time of 17:09.17.
In the 200-yard backstroke 'B' final, graduate student Athena Aravantinou (North Bethesda, Md.) placed second, 10th overall, touching in at 1:59.63. Sophomore Riley Bunstine (Alexandria, Ohio) placed eighth, 16thoverall, finishing the race in 2:03.77.
In the 100 free 'B' final, Fortman finished second, 10th overall, finishing in 50.58. Teammate, sophomore Caroline Dunigan (Lansdale, Pa.) finished third, 11th overall, with a time of 50.69. Grau (Mason, Ohio) also placed 11th overall, while senior Kendra Sheehan (Columbus, Ohio) wrapped up the race in 16th with a time of 50.90.
In the 200-yard breaststroke 'A' final, freshman Julia Strine (Shippensburg, Pa.) finished in eighth place with a time of 2:17.87.
In the 200 fly 'A' final, Brust finished in fourth place, touching in at 1:59.57. In the 'B' final, sophomore Peyton Farrell (Beavercreek, Ohio) finished second, 10th overall, with a final time of 2:02.00. Junior Madeline Marks (Bentonville, Ark.) finished fourth, 12th overall with a time of 2:02.81.
In the final swimming event of the competitions, the Bobcats 400-yard free relay team of Dunigan, Grau, Fortman and Sheehan placed fifth with a time of 3:22.18.
In the 3-meter diving event, junior Halli Siwik (Fishers, Ind.) finished in fifth place after registering a score of259.75.
