SPARTANBURG, S.C.—The Ohio baseball team (1-1) fell to USC Upstate (1-1) in the second game of the three-game series in an 8-2 loss on Saturday (Feb. 19) afternoon at Harley Park.
USC Upstate built an early lead, scoring eight runs in the first four innings. Ohio's starter, redshirt senior
Jack Liberatore (Greensburg, Pa.), went three innings with ten hits and six earned runs.
Senior
Colin Kasperbauer (Sioux City, Iowa) got the Bobcats on the board in the sixth inning, scoring senior
Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) with a double. In the eighth inning, redshirt senior
Spencer Harbert (Middletown, Del.) hit the Bobcats' first home run of the year to left field.
Fifth year
Chace Harris (New Marshfield, Ohio) pitched three total innings, with two scoreless innings and two strikeouts. He was followed by freshman
Hudson Boncal (Corona, Calif.) and freshman
Brady Linkel (Cross Plains, Ind.), who each put in a scoreless inning with only one hit allowed. Brady faced four batters and struck out three of them.
The Bobcats finished with seven hits and only four strikeouts.
