ATHENS, Ohio –
Ohio (6-3-1, 2-0-1) played Bowling Green (2-5-3, 1-1-1) to a scoreless draw Thursday night (Sept. 30) at Cochrane Stadium, as the Bobcats stayed undefeated in MAC play through three contests.

"Bowling Green is a very tough team to play against," head coach Aaron Rodgers said. "They put you under pressure and we managed those moments well. We had some great moments with the ball and created some very dangerous chances as well."

Ohio recorded their 5th shutout of the season after 110 minutes of play, their first overtime game of the 2021 season. Sam Wexell led the defensive stand for the Bobcats, making six saves.

In the first half, it was a defensive battle, as both teams combined for just one shot on goal, courtesy of Bowling Green in the 39th minute. Ohio's first shot on goal came in the second frame, as Shae Robertson's shot in the 60th minute was turned away by the Falcons.

The action ramped up in the second half, as Bowling Green made an offensive push. The Falcons took a total of nine shots after the intermission, compared to just two in the first half. That offensive effort included five shots on goal in the second half, all saved by Wexell.

With the game still knotted at zero after 90 minutes, the two teams moved to a golden goal overtime, consisting of two ten-minute periods. While offensive action was sparse, the Bobcats were presented with an opportunity in the 98th minute, a shot by Abby Townsend that was saved by the Falcons. The Bobcats defense held strong to close out the match, as Bowling Green took two shots in the final minute, but the Falcons were unsuccessful in finding the back of the net.

Statistically, the Bobcats were led on offense by Carsyn Prigge, who recorded a team high in shots (3) and shots on goal (2). Ohio had six players play all 110 minutes of the match – Wexell, Prigge, Paige Knorr, Olivia Sensky, Ella Bianco,  and Morgan Collica
