MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ohio women's golf team returned to action this week for the 2021 Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball State at The Players Club. The Bobcats wrapped up the two-day event finishing 13
th overall.
Ohio opened competition on Monday shooting a 318 in the first round, before wrapping up the day with a 317. As a team, the Bobcats were able to put together their best performance in the final round, shooting 309 (+21).
Individually, senior
Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) led the charge for the Bobcats. After opening the tournament with rounds of 79 and 78, Lofus shot 15 spots up the leader board thanks to her tournament-low round of 74, helping her finish tied for 21
st overall with a score of 231 (+2).
Meanwhile, sophomore
Mariana Vega-Rivera (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) was the Bobcats next highest finisher, opening the tournament with a 75 and a 76 before shooting a third-round score of 84, placing her tied for 37
th overall with a tournament total of 235 (+19).
Next up, the Bobcats head Ypsilanti, Mich. for the 2021 Shirley Spork EMU Invitational on Oct. 4 and 5.
